SeniorApplication Developer

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is currently seeking an Application Developer III for our Detroit location. This individual will be responsible to play a Technical/Dev lead role working with the Technical and Project development teams supporting BCBSM Digital Products and Assets such as B2C Portals, Web Applications, Mobile Applications, Content and Identity management systems.

Departmental Requirements

• Strong knowledge in Java and JavaScript (JS) programming languages


• Prior experience in design and development of J2EE Technologies: (Java Frameworks, Content Management Systems, Relational databases, Mobile technology, non-SQL databases)


• Thorough understanding of how Java frameworks like Spring and others will work in building the REST/SOAP service


• Prior experience in JavaScript/TypeScript MVC frameworks like Angular, ReactJS, Amber and some other utility libraries like JQuery and UnderscoreJS


• Experience in working with the responsive CSS and JS libraries like Bootstrap and JQM (JQuery Mobile)


• Experience in designing and programming with traditional RDBMS and NoSQL databases, SOAP/REST Web Services


• Experience with Build Automation, Continuous Integration, Test Automation, Selenium, Gradle, Maven and Open SDKs


• Strong Data Programming experience with Spring Data (JPA/MongoDB), Hibernate and other frameworks


• Proven experience working on SOA (web services, etc.) integrations and utilization in the design and development of a large scale project in medium to large scale enterprises


• Thorough understanding of the Security needs in web application development. Security programming experience is a plus -- with LDAP, RDBMS, various Cryptographic Algorithms, OWASP framework, PKI/PKCS, eCommerce and Single Sign On patterns


• Thorough understanding of Integrated Development Environments like Eclipse, IntelliJ


• Should have thorough understanding of Java design patterns


• Experience with hybrid application development using Angular, Ionic, and Cordova is a plus!


• Knowledge of any one of the native mobile application programming languages for iOS (Objective-C/Swift) or Android (Java/Kotlin) is a plus!


• Prior experience releasing and supporting app distribution in iTunes and/or Google Play store is a plus!


• Proven competence in analyzing business needs and working with cross functional (technical & non technical) teams


• Proven experience working in various application lifecycle stages such as transitioning, sustaining, maintaining of applications Departmental Preferences

  Corporate Requirements Work closely with clients, business analysts and team members on small to large, complex projects to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions that align with business and IT strategies and are in compliance with the organization's architectural standards. Provide support in the full systems life cycle for multiple applications to ensure application software is delivered on time and within budget.


• Code applications using a disciplined development process.


• Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework.


• Create data extracts and reports from system based on requirements.


• Develop, execute, and document unit test plans.


• Support and/or execute all testing efforts across the life cycle.


• Assist in the deployment of new modules, upgrades and fixes to the production environment.


• Make modules production-ready by moving them to libraries, completing forms and version control documents, following procedures, etc.


• Validate deployment. Assist in production support.


• Troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develops solutions. Provide ongoing maintenance of applications.


• Document functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results.


• Assist in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems.


• Create technical design specifications and assist in sizing technical requirements, as needed.


• Adhere to standards and procedures; check for compliance.


• Review modules for quality assurance.


• Evaluate new application packages and tools and perform research on best practices and provide recommendations for solutions, as needed.

  DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES


• At least 10 years of technical leadership experience in developing enterprise application.


• Strong exposure and hands on experience in application architecture and application Infrastructure (WebSphere, Liberty, ISAM, F5 etc..).


• Thorough understanding of the Security needs in web application development. Security programming experience is a plus -- with LDAP, RDBMS, various Cryptographic Algorithms, OWASP framework, PKI/PKCS, eCommerce and Single Sign On patterns

  Education And/Or Experience


• Bachelor's degree in related field


• Masters degree in computer science field is preferred


• Minimum five (5) years of advanced programming techniques and application design required.


• Experience in systems design and a solid understanding of development, database development, testing, and integration methodologies required.


• Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, computer information systems or related field required or in lieu of a bachelor's degree an additional five (5) years of development/support experience required in addition to the experience requirement listed below.


• Four (4) years' experience working in a J2EE development environment required including some JS frameworks


• Experience working in mobile applications development is preferred
